Elfinbook vs. Rocketbook Everlast

Smart notebooks are here to revolutionize the way we take notes!

Smart technology is slowly becoming a part of our everyday life, and it’s even changing the way we write or draw. All with the purpose of making our lives easier and less wasteful to the environment.

A smart notebook combines the act of writing in an ordinary notebook, with the ease and security of taking down notes on a laptop or other smart device. Even if you haven’t taken handwritten notes in a long time, a smart notebook might be a great opportunity to kick start your old habit again!

To back that up, studies have also shown us that when learning and remembering various details, taking notes by hand is a far more effective method than typing alone.

Today, we’ll be looking at Elfinbook 2.0 vs. Rocketbook Everlast. Both notebooks offer some useful features, such as the ability to be reused countless times, and the comfort of being able to easily erase what you have written or drawn. You can also choose from many color options when it comes to the Pilot Frixion Pens, which are specifically designed to be used with smart notebooks.

Not to mention the ease of syncing up your work to the Cloud, and saving your files to Google Drive, Evernote and more! All that, while coming at a reasonable price.

Elfinbook vs. Rocketbook Everlast — Things in Common

  • Cover – Both Elfinbook and Rocketbook Everlast sport a plastic cover, which may feel flimsy to some of you who prefer a harder or a leather type of cover. If so, you can take a look at Elfinbook X as it offers a more sturdy leather hardcover.

  • Pilot Frixion Pens – A smart notebook requires a smartpen, which is where the Pilot Frixion Pen comes in.

Though it may look like your regular gel pen that works even on ordinary notebooks, these pens use advanced thermo-sensitive ink technology. When you need to make corrections on your page, you can use the Frixion eraser tip, just as if you were using an ordinary pencil eraser. When you rub the paper, the ink heats up to 60 degrees, causing it to become invisible.

Both Elfinbook and Rocketbook Everlast, come with one already included, to start you off.

It’s worth to note, that due to the pen’s temperature sensitivity, if for example your notebook is left out in the sun, or other similar situation, the ink may disappear due to high heat conditions. A good tip is to leave it in the freezer for a short while, which will cause your writing to reappear again, good as new.

  • Collaborate – Now you can collaborate with others using Elfinbook and Rocketbook Everlast notebook. Share your work with others and work together with your team, classmates, and family by taking advantage of this useful technology.

  • Reusability – In terms of reusability, Elfinbook and Rocketbook Everlast are great options. Rocketbook Everlast is said to be unlimited, while Elfinbook can be reused up to 500 times!

  • App – You can connect both Elfinbook and Everlast together with your iOS and Android app. By doing so, you can upload your notes with the added benefit of saving them as pdf. Or .jpg files, to Slack, Evernote, Google Drive, and a few others.

The process is pretty easy, all you need to do is hold your phone above your notebook, and the Elfinbook or Rocketbook app will automatically scan and upload the images on your chosen software, and the quality of your pages will be clearer and far more vibrant than your original page.

Elfinbook vs. Rocketbook Everlast — Differences

Elfinbook

  • Difference #1: Erasing – For both Elfinbook and Rocketbook Everlast, you can erase their entire pages by using a damp microfiber cloth or wet wipes (just make sure they aren’t alcohol-based!) Simply wipe away the notes, and wait around 5-15 seconds before continuing to write. You can also use a hairdryer to dry your pages even quicker.

You can also use the microwave method on the Elfinbook if you wish to erase its entire contents. You do so by placing the notebook in the middle of your microwave turntable, facing up. Then put a mug of water in the center of the cover of your notebook, any standard size mug is fine, just make sure to fill ¾ of it. Microwave your notebook and the mug, and open the door every 30 seconds to check. After that’s done, flip your Elfinbook, and repeat the process again. Make sure to allow your notebook to cool for 3 minutes before touching it.

It’s important to keep in mind that you can’t put your Rocketbook Everlast in the microwave, as it’s cover and binding won’t be able to withstand the heat. Instead, use the damp microfiber cloth option to keep your pages clean, or check out the Rocketbook Wave which you can put in a microwave to erase notes.

  • Difference #2: Page Material – This might be an important determiner for some of you, especially if you’re looking to use the notebook for drawing.

The fact that Rocketbook Everlast’s pages have a slightly glossy feel to them, might put you off. Especially if you’re left-handed, as there is a chance the writing may smear a little due to its synthetic poly blend.

While Elfinbook offers a more traditional, regular paper feel, with their eco-friendly stone paper material.

  • Difference #3: Pages & Design – The Elfinbook has almost twice the amount of pages, at 60 vs. 36. Even though it can be erased multiple times, you have the ability to take advantage of even more pages to fill.

In terms of design, you have more choice when it comes to color choices with Rocketbook Everlast. Pick your favorite style, from dark Blue, Red, Black, and Teal. While Elfinbook only offers more classical choices of black or grey.

When it comes to the size, the standard size of Rocketbook Everlast 8.5″ x 11”, is considerably larger than Elfinbook’s 9.8’’ x 6.9’’. While a smaller option might be preferred by some, as it’s easier to carry around.
