Difference #1: Erasing & Reusing – The biggest difference worth discussing when comparing the Rocketbook Everlast vs. Wave is the way that they handle erasing and reusing the notebook. Since this is one of the main draws of the technology, it’s important to break down how the two options differ in this way.
The Rocketbook Wave is designed to be reused up to 5 times. When you’ve filled up your notebook and are ready to erase it, simply place it in any microwave with a rotating glass turntable alongside a coffee cup filled up ¾ of the way with water. Microwave your notebook until the logo turns from dark to light.
After letting the notebook cool for a few minutes, you can take it out and enjoy fresh, clean pages!
The Rocketbook Everlast is intended to be reused an unlimited amount of times. Just erase your notebook using a few drops of water on a small microfiber towel and then wait for it to dry.
While the Rocketbook Wave doesn’t have nearly the same staying power that the Everlast provides, it does look and feel a lot more like a real notebook. Difference #2: Page Material – Since the two notebooks erase in a different way, you’ll find that they have different types of paper. This is another aspect that may greatly influence your decision when trying to decide which option is best for you.
The Rocketbook Wave has pretty traditional pages that will dry in less than 5 seconds. The Everlast, on the other hand, has slick pages that definitely don’t feel like regular paper.
The company says that the Everlast pages should dry in around 15 seconds, but users have reported that it can sometimes take as long as 30 seconds for the page to dry after being erased.
The unlimited lifespan of the Everlast is amazing, but it does mean that you’re essentially going to be writing on plastic rather than writing on paper.

Difference #3: Page Number – The Rocketbook Wave has far more pages than the Rocketbook Everlast, at 80 vs. 36. This makes sense given the limited lifespan of the Wave, and since the Everlast is reusable you shouldn’t find yourself running into space issues unless you’re in the middle of a particularly long note-taking session.
This does mean you’re going to have to upload or sync your notes more often with the Everlast, but we feel that that’s a worthwhile trade-off considering your investment will basically last forever.

Difference #4: Design & Color – While the two notebooks might look very similar at first glance, the fact of the matter is that there are some notable differences that affect the design and the way the Wave and Everlast feel.
The Wave is a lot like a standard notebook by most regards, but has a slightly different page layout of 8.5” x 9.5”. It is slightly more square than the Everlast and available only in Blue.
The spiral binding on the Wave is also a thicker white plastic, likely being designed as such to allow it to stand up to the heat in the microwave. There are circles on the front and back covers to let you know where to place the mug while microwaving, which we don’t feel are overly intrusive but might be frustrating to those looking for a more minimalist design.
The Everlast may have pages that are quite different from your average notebook, but they are around the same size at 8.5” x 11”. Rather than a single blue color, the Everlast is available in red, black, light blue, and midnight blue. Since this notebook doesn’t have to stand up to the heat of the microwave, the binding is a lot thinner, and it has a much more minimalistic design since there’s no need for the tracking spots.
So, writing on the Wave feels much more like a traditional notebook, but the Everlast actually has pages that are closer to a regular notebook in size and is also a little better from a design standpoint.

Plastic Cover – The outer cover of both the Wave and Everlast is pretty much the same. It’s basic plastic and it’s a little bit flimsy, which is a little disappointing considering that these notebooks are designed to be used again and again. It would be okay for a standard notebook, but for a smart device we were hoping for something a little bit sturdier.

Pilot Frixion Pens – Since both of these notebooks use special technology to allow you to transfer your notes to the cloud and reuse the pages, you need special Pilot Frixion Pens in order to write on the pages. If you were to use a regular pen, it’s likely that you’d ruin the notebook since they won’t erase.
Frixion pens are pretty easy to track down and Rocketbook includes some recommendations with their products, and some of their notebooks will even include a single pen to get you started.

App Support – Both the Wave and Everlast use the same iOS and Android app. The app is the way that you’ll upload your notes, with the option to save them as a .pdf or .jpg to Google Drive, Dropbox, Evernote, Slack and several other services.
The setup process for the app is pretty simple, and you should be up and running and ready to upload your notes within just a few minutes. Just hold your phone above your notebook, and the app will upload images to your chosen service that are even more crisp and vibrant than the actual page.

The Rocketbook Everlast, on the other hand, will last forever but feels much more like you’re writing on plastic than writing on paper.
