Now, let’s take a closer look at some of the differences or feel free to use our navigation menu to jump straight to the section that interests you the most:

iRobot Roomba s9 vs. s9+ — Differences

  • Difference #1: Anti Allergen System – Great news for those of you who suffer from allergies!

iRobot Roomba s9+ comes with advanced anti-allergen technology. Meaning that it works hard to capture up to 99% of pollen and mold allergens.

Paired with its 3-stage cleaning system, this useful technology will really boost up your robots cleaning power. Now, not only will it tackle all that dust, dirt and hair from floors and carpets, but it will also trap those pesky allergens that can collect even in the smallest corners and edges of your home.

  • Difference #2: Price – The price difference between iRobot Roomba s9 and s9+ is very apparent. The main reason being is whether you have the Automatic Dirt Disposal included or not. The cleaning technology is almost the same, as both models offer a superior 3-stage cleaning system, Perfect Edge Technology, and more. So in terms of cleaning, both of them do well.

Yet, if the base is something you’d be looking for, it would be a lot cheaper to buy the s9+ since it already comes with the Automatic Dirt Disposal, rather than the s9 model, and then buying the base separately.

  • Difference #3: Automatic Dirt Disposal –This awesome 14-inch tall tower will make sure that you never have to empty out your Roomba yourself again.

Compatible with the s9 and i7 models, this handy disposal works similarly to its charging base, as your robot will return back to it when the battery is low.

As it docks the cradle, the platform will recognize the rubber flap that seals the collection bin shut. So, while your Roomba is charging its batteries. It also starts to empty out the collection bin of all the things it sucked up when cleaning your floors and carpets.

The dirt is then suctioned out from the hole in the bottom, brought through the platform and up into the tower. From there, everything is well sealed into a disposable vacuum bag.

The only thing you’ll still need to do is to remove the full bag from the disposal in order to throw it out. Keep in mind, that it can hold up to 30 full collections worth of dirt, dust, and hair, so you won’t have to worry about it for quite a while. And when it does get full, you’ll be notified via the app on your smartphone.

When that does happen, all you need to do is open the lid of the tower, pull out the sealed bag, and replace it with a new one. Because of the large amount of waste that it can store, each bag can last up to a month. And when you do need to stock up again, they can be easily purchased as needed.

Also, it’s worth to keep in mind that the Home Base and Charge Base will recharge both s9 or s9+. It just needs to locate the rubber seal of the disposal. If it’s not found, it will charge your robot’s battery as normal.

If you already had purchased an s9, and get the Automatic Dirt Disposal base separately, your robot will be able to recognize and use both bases in order to charge up.
