What is a Neato Botvac Connected Series?
The Neato Botvac Connected Series is a collection of smart vacuums that feature cutting-edge cleaning technology that competes with the best from the likes of competitors like Roomba and ILIFE. There are a variety of models at varying price points, but regardless of your choice you’ll be getting a fully-featured smart vacuum that has the necessary chops to keep your floors sparkling clean. From the entry level Neato Botvac Connected D3 to the more premium Neato D7, there’s something for every homeowner and every budget within the Neato Botvac family.
What Makes Neato Botvac Connected Series Special?
There are some signature features on the Neato Botvac family that make them stand out from the competition. These aspects are what make the Neato family truly special and one of our top picks in the smart vacuum industry.
Perhaps the most significant of these features are the virtual no-go areas via the Neato app.Being able to trace an area in the app itself where you’d like your smart vacuum to avoid is a useful approach to control that we haven’t really seen from other brands. Many Neato vacuums also support multiple floor plans, so you’ll be able to set boundaries across multiple floors and seamlessly transition your Botvac from the living room to the bedroom.
Recharge and resume functionality lets your Neato vacuum get right back into the action if it runs low on battery during a scheduled cleaning, and the quick charging functionality ensures your robot cleaner will be back to vacuuming as soon as possible by giving the device just enough juice to get the current job done.
Apple Watch support is a pretty unique feature as far as smart vacuums go, and ensures you’ll never be without a way to control your Neato.
The D-Shaped design is the signature claim to faim of the Neato botvac family. Unlike traditional smart vacuums that are generally circular, the D-shaped Neato vacuums are able to get into corners and other hard-to-reach areas with ease. The vacuums do a great job of navigating back to their base after cleaning as well, but if for some reason you can’t find your Neato, you can use the useful Find Me feature within the app to easily locate your lost robot friend.
Last but certainly not least, the Neato frequently updates older models with new features introduced with later devices, so you may see extra utility added in from time to time. This is pretty rare as far as smart vacuums go, and it ensures your vacuum will be up to date for years to come.
Filters on Neato Botvac Connected: Pet Hair, Dust, & Dirt Control
Depending on the model you choose, your Neato Botvac might have one of three different filters.
The entry level D3 has a standard filter that is capable of capturing more dirt and debris than a large number of other vacuums. It isn’t able to capture tiny particles like the more premium models, but as long as you replace the filter every month or two you should avoid kicking dust up into the air while vacuuming.
The Neato D4 is one step up from the D3 with a high performance filter. This is an excellent option for those with pets and allergy sensitivities, as it can easily capture fine dust particles and is great at reducing allergens in your home.
The more premium D5, D6, D7, and Neato Botvac Connected feature Ultra Performance filters, which offer some of the best filtering on the market. These filters are capable of capturing incredibly small particles as tiny as 0.3 microns in size, and captures twice the particles of the competition. These filters are also incredibly easy o remove with a new latch design, and include a new filter screen in order to keep dirt where it belongs.
Simply put, the more premium model you choose, the better the filtering. Even the standard filters on the D3 are incredibly capable, but if you’re especially sensitive to dust and other allergens you might want to opt for the Ultra-performance filters or at least the high-performance.
Are Neato Botvac Connected Series Worth It?
There’s no doubt about it: the Neato Botvac Connected Series is absolutely worth it. With the perfect price and tech specs, they outclass the competition at every turn and essentially offer some of the best smart vacuum experiences on the market.
And since Neato regularly rolls out updates to older models, you’ll be able to get a lot of mileage even on more basic vacuums — ensuring your purchase is money well spent.
